Start the Week on the Right Foot with Healthy Mondays

Bone and joint health does not exist in a vacuum.

In fact, taking a more holistic view of your health, including your personal lifestyle, behaviors, attitudes, and other pieces of the puzzle, helps you get a better snapshot of your overall wellness so that you can make healthier choices. As part of the Center for Bone & Joint Health’s unique approach to caring for bone and joint health, we included motivational interviewing components that helped us understand other factors that may influence willingness to make changes in one’s life.

For example, research indicates that people view Monday as a day for a fresh start and are more likely to begin practicing healthy activities like diets, exercise, and stress management regimens. People who start on Monday say they’re more likely to follow through on their health intentions the rest of the week.

By kicking off the week on the right foot through a dose of guided movement at lunchtime, the Healthy Mondays program was created to bring practical knowledge and tools to people at the start of their week to encourage kicking off healthy behaviors.

During the course of the 10-episode summer series, the Healthy Mondays program featured health and wellness experts from the local community and around the world. Topics covered include making yoga work your body, learning the “Plate Method” nutrition guidelines, practicing calming breathing practices, and more.
